the marlin jacket is made from a navy gabardine cotton which was created as an alternative to the heavy woollen overcoats worn in wwii trenches. it is lightweight, strong and shower proof obtaining a coated feel without losing any breathability. gabardine cottons went from being used in war to being used in sport, especially fishing as a fishing hook would never get caught in the fibres of the fabric unlike a wool. to this jacket we add a hainsworth barathea wool shawl lapel. hainsworth is one of england’s oldest fabric mills who, among other incredible stories, made the fabric for the battle of waterloo soldiers, still make fabric used by the british army today, cover the woolsack chair in the house of lords and even supplied the cloth for prince william’s wedding attire. the marlin signifies an elegance that might belong to evening wear but we’ve purposefully kept the design simple so you can style the jacket formally or casually dependent on the occasion. as with all jenny schwarz jackets the marlin jacket is created to remain as a separate and therefore very versatile. the navy gabardine cotton is a simple colour to pair with multiple tones, furthermore, the gabardine emits a light lustre that is synonymous with luxury. we finish this garment with black lip mother of pearl buttons to add real elegance.
